Cactus Craze (OOTD)

For a casual evening going to my favorite Mexican restaurant in Upstate New York and catching up with family friends I donned a cactus themed outfit. As summer slowly fades into fall the evenings tend to cool off. Besides that, my other justification for these distressed mom styled jeans is that during the summer many restaurants and stores have their air conditioning on full blast, so while shorts may be more comfortable outside; inside will be frigid.

My shirt is second hand from Buffalo Exchange featuring trendy contrast colored sleeves and kneck hole complete with a cactus and burnt orange colored orange heart. My pants were a $10 sale steal from Zara with embroidery of multiple things such as little flowers, MLNO, and most prominently a huge cactus.

To pick up the orange in the shirt I slid into my thong styled bright orange Birkenstocks. Earlier this summer a good friend of mine adventured into the Western portion of the US and brought me back a hand carved arrow head on a piece of super soft Western leather strap, so I access prized my outfit with that.

The cactus/western symbols in this outfit and the light color scheme keep it summery while the pants help transition it to the almost (but not quite) fall evenings.

Burlap Sack or Perfect Dress

Wearing: Necklace | Loafers | Tunic

It’s August, and the weather has never been hotter or stickier. Walking outside with the humidity levels literally feels like walking through a wall of jello. The ideal outfit would be to wear a a paper bag.

Seeing as I don’t have any paper bag clothing, this linen dress definitely gets the job done. Everything about this dress is geared towards towards keeping cool. The lightweight fabric is airy which perfectly suits the loose boxy fit. The mid length sleeves and collar give this dress a little bit of an edge while the stripe detailing and pastel color pallet further accelerate the summer vibe.

I paired the neutral tones of this dress with some patent leather nude flats. I intern at an office with business casual dress so this outfit was fun while still being crisp.

To accessorize I added some edge with a long necklace consisting of hand painted wooden beads and a tie clasp. (This necklace is from the Run and Follow webstore and will be available August 21st!!!)

The light weight fabric and neutral tones perfectly suits this chic look for summer.

Don’t forget to accessorize with a refreshing drink (mines a green tea frap from Starbucks) and stay hydrated with lots of water! Keep smiling and enjoying the heat because when winter comes you’ll be wishing for warmth again!

Here’s a selfie with today’s photographer,

OOTD: Tight Stripes

Wearing: Dress (Similar) | Leather Jacket (Similar) | Heeled Boots | Cap (Street Vendor)

The trend of midi length tight fitting skirts has become exceedingly popular, and I decided to take advantage of that trend for my classes in NYC this past Saturday. I love the maroon, light blue, yellow, and sparkly striped detailing on this dress paired with the faux turtle neck line. Some people shy away from horizontal stripes, afraid of looking large, but in this case I feel like the curve hugging cotton mixed fabric definitely flatters.

These shoes are easily my new obsession. They remind me of Dior heels, and despite the fact that the bulk of the bootie is an imitation suede, I feel like the light grey color and opaque pink heel will allow me to get a few wears before it is too warm out. To casual the look up and acknowledge the fact that it isn’t quite spring yet (despite temperatures rising), I tossed on my leather and stretchy fabric leather jacket and a NYY tourist hat.

The sun was bright so I slipped on some cheap reflective aviators. I felt so ironic, being someone who frequents New York wearing a hat from an actual New York City street vendor. Talk about natives posing as tourists.

I can’t tell if this look reminds me more of a famous person avoiding paparazzi or a tourist trying to blend in. Overall, I just love the vibe of this look. What do you think?

Happy March First,
