July, Let’s Do This!

From the end of June till now has been a whirl win of ups and downs. I’ve been completely scattered and had a lot of positives and negatives both personally and career wise. One thing I realized and I would like to write about for my next few Monday Motivations is the value of persistence and manifestation (which I think you will find synonymous by the end of this post).

When most people think of manifestation they think of meditating/praying/working on a big goal or a long term achievement, however “immediate manifestation” is more than that and it’s also the key to a long term goal.

Let’s say you have a happy emotion, for instance my family went to Brooklyn and the entire day was wonderful. Moment after moment was fun. Then as we’re walking back to our car, the mood shifted and suddenly we were a little snippy. Maybe it was the immense heat, or sore muscles or just being around each other for too long, whatever the reason there really wasn’t any reason.

Why should the fun have changed? What makes any moment change? A shift in events is probably your answer. But it’s not a shift in events, it’s a shift in your emotions and your perception of the events. Even the worst event can be more enjoyable or at least passable if you keep the positivity going. Interpret things in a more positive light and you can enjoy your whole life. That is the power of “immediate manifestation”.

Every month, week, day, every moment can be your chance to start manifesting a healthier and happier life.

Manifesting a long term goal can become more manageable with this tactic as well. If you have something you want, talk about it, think about it, make it an active part of your everyday life even if you can only afford to work on the idea or goal for a few minutes or an hour a day. Bringing the goal into your conscious and subconscious mind is how the universe will hear what you want and help bring it into reality. Having faith in the universe and keeping a positive outlook is probably the hardest aspect of this practice and definitely the part I struggle with the most. It’s hard to stay persistent in positivity or a goal if you don’t see large changes immediately. When you think nothing is happening is probably when the universe is working on its largest plans and changes for you.

Do you meditate? Leave your response in the comments below!

I can’t wait to give you guys some examples of how the Law of Attraction and manifestation have been slowly changing my life in upcoming posts!

Prom Prom Prom!

This year, as a high school senior I got to experience two lovely prom experiences due to the fact that my significant other and I don’t attend the same school. Prom itself is not the most enthralling earth shattering experience of the world however it is definitely a right of passage.

The dress I wore was a slightly pricey mid ranged dress from the bridal site BHLDN, a sub division of the timeless and cute store Anthropologie. What made this dress so special to me was that I had been eyeballing and dreaming about it since I was 12 years old in eight grade. Yes you heard that right folks, I had wanted this dress since eighth grade! Although it fit with the pink trend perfectly this spring, I had wanted the pink perfection of a dress since a young age and to get it was a dream. It was also rather surprising that they still had it on the site. BHLDN’s dresses have a timeless elegance, a beautiful amount of movement and are just the ideal mix of ground breaking and classic.

My dress was made more unique because it was actually quite heavy being sewn of a bathing suit material however that is ultimately what gave it it’s movement and shimmery silk like quality. Another draw to the dress, although priced a little on the higher side, it is a wrap dress that can be worn over 10 different ways meaning I could wear it to all sorts of occasions. Before I gush about my crush on this look any longer I’m going to let the pictures speak for themselves!

Governor’s Ball 2017 OOTD

For those of you who have been following my blog and Instagram since the beginning, you’ll know that this year marks my third annul Governor’s Ball experience on Randall’s Island. (Read experience One and Two) This year I went for one day, Friday where I got the immersed in the beautiful art they feature, their version of statue of liberty and more. I also got to taste the amazing food line up, almost as good as the music, tasting giant mozzarella sticks, a watermelon juice drink in an actual mini watermelon, and french fries.

Performers I was blessed to witness that day included Chance the Rapper (the closing act complete with fireworks and the biggest crowd of the night), Tove Lo, Flume (for the second time, and let me tell you guys Flume gets better every time I watch), and my personal favorite (and the reason I chose Friday) Lorde.

My outfit this year was as bold as it was out of place for daily wear. But that is the true beauty of festival fashion, it doesn’t have to be street wear appropriate. With festival fashion you can wear anything and instead of getting any disapproval, you only get praise and attention. In my case I was actually featured on GovBall’s Instagram and Twitter. My friend Karol (follow him here) was an amazing show stopper with a bedazzled electric blue ensemble. I was also accompanied by my radiant sister Rachael (follow her here) who wore a black overall dress folded down, a grey tie dye crop top, and a mesh long sleeve shirt over that complete with adorable space buns.

My shorts were rainbow crocheted, an electric blue bralette (to match Karol’s ensemble). Around my neck I had a festival ready necklace and a modified floral bandana layered around my neck. My waist held an acid washed button up (for the morning and evening when the sun wasn’t scorching down on us). Under that, I had my festival necessity my fanny pack busting with my portable charger, my money, sunglasses and any extras I needed that day.

This is just a quick little video I threw together on Saturday! All the clothes I already had. I’m going to The Governors Ball Music Festival on Randall’s Island in NYC this Friday! This is my third year going, but I still feel just as excited as the first year. Music festivals are amazing because they are the combination of amazing food, crazy fashion that you not see everyday, and of course phenomenal music!

Honey Tones: Ash + Ember Top

For this outfit, I have an exciting product feature which was sent to me by the brand Ash & Ember, a “contemporary plaid and essential line that allows you feel casual yet look chic.” The lovely people of the company gave me the opportunity to look through their Spring 2017 catalog and pick a pice to receive, so I chose this lovely little shit. Between the warm brown and cream tones of the stripes and the light weight loose fit this top is ideal for summer days;I especially envision this top for the beach as a cover up or nighttime shirt.

The vertical warm toned stripes made me envision honey and melting gold and brass. I kept this color scheme in mind as I adorned some little black corduroy shorts and my penny colored oxford platforms. (I had to have the little black ankle socks peeping out to coordinate with the shorts) To finish the look off I slipped this long, second hand brass necklace on.

Ash & Ember is more contemporary, a structured brand for more alternative girls. You should definitely check them out because they are cornering the market on stripes, plaids, and numerous patterns in between. Now, lets say you’re more of a boho free spirit beauty blues kinda gal? Well Ash & Ember has an amazing sister company, Chloe Oliver, which I also recommend you definitely check out for any of your more free spirited needs. Who knows, between the two brands you could definitely find the perfect balance of rock and roll and boho dreams.

OOTD: Going Out With Gingham

unnamed-77.jpgunnamed-75.jpg

unnamed-76.jpg

Gingham is definitely one of the dominating patterns of this spring to summer season. The small, usually black and white print is easy to style and very summery. However, something about the print to me is so reminiscent of picnic blankets.

I love myself a good picnic, but I wanted to see if I could style the print to be a little fancier…think of this look as picnic formal. Something about the tiered sleeves and wrap top style helps bring some structure and dramatics into play. Big sleeves, ruffles, and bow embellishments are some of the most notable trends this season as well.

Because of the intricacies of the top, I kept my bottoms simple with a fitted black denim skirt. This skirt is made more interesting with the mild metal hardware of the zipper with the O-Ring detail.

Big velvet stiletto heels from my favorite, Jeffery Campbell finish the simple color scheme off and add a nice texture as well as make the look a little more formal and a little less picnic.

Summer Color Palette

unnamed-64.jpg

unnamed-67.jpg

Millennial Pink (or pink champagne, mauve, dusty rose, whatever you want to call it) may be the color of this season, but blu and white are the colors of every summer. Something is so nice about pairing blues and whites, whether its tie dye from the 70s, or ripped boyfriend jeans and white t shirt from the 90s or pinstripes from more recent years, its a classic color scheme that just screams summer.

unnamed-68.jpg

For a pizza and second hand book store date with my lovely significant other I donned a blue and off white attire to welcome one of the first days of warm weather.

Blue flared out jeans with the very poplar exposed hems and externally stitched pockets paired perfectly with my off white statement sleeve peasant blouse. Statement sleeves that are airy and light weight are a must have for this summer season so these billowy ones with the ruched neckline works perfectly.

unnamed-60.jpgunnamed-59.jpg

Pulling some more summer inspired details, I covered my head with a light wash denim baseball cap and wrapped a floral patterned bandana around my neck (tied like a choker). On my feet I have my ever so summery espadrilles from Soludos.

unnamed-58.jpg

The weather was in the mid to high 60s, but the loose fitting flared denim and light wait fabric of my top let me be comfortable. For a day of amazing flatbread pizza and wandering in the city, this look was more then perfect.

unnamed-56.jpg

I am pleased to announce the launch of Run and Follow’s newest merchandise!!! Shop them here!

unnamed-55.jpg

After weeks of work, my lovely sister and I were able to produce the first piece(s) of Run and Follow’s 2017 Summer Line. At this point, this summers collection will be released in waves with no release video and larger date. Hopefully for 2017 Fall we will be able to produce another video.

This product is unlike anything we have produced before because this believe it or not is stickers! They sell in sets of 3 for just $9 (with free shipping).

unnamed-53

Each sticker was hand drawn by me with ink on paper. The pictures were then scanned into the computer where my sister digitalizes it. After that I made swatches of colors with water color which was also scanned into my sisters computer. From there, she color corrected and matched the swatches super imposing them onto the product’s proof. Finally, we finalized the proofs and we send the designs to the production company we work with where the stickers are printed.
